Fleetwood Mac has released their first new music in ten
years, a four-song EP called “Extended Play” available via iTunes. The album was announced on Tuesday,
April 30th on the group’s website. The album will include the
songs “Sad Angel,” “It Takes Time,” “Miss Fantasy,” and “Without You.
The group’s last album was Say You Will, released in 2003. It reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart in the U.S. and was
followed by a successful world arena tour. The group is currently on a new tour
of 34 cities around North America, with upcoming performances in Tulsa, North
Little Rock, New Orleans, Winnipeg, and more.
Fleetwood Mac was originally formed in London in 1967. The
lineup for the band has changed many times over the years, and today the only
original members are Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Today it is made up
Fleetwood, McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks. Buckingham and Nicks
have both been members of the band since 1975. Christine McVie was also a
longstanding member of the band (since 1970), though she officially quit in
1998.
The band was entered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in
1998. They have sold over 100 million albums during their more than four-decade
history (with a ten year break starting in 1987). Their biggest times of
success were in their first years and in the late seventies until the late
eighties, when they became more pop-oriented. Their 1977 album, Rumors, sold over 40 million copies on
its own.
“I’m really excited about next year,” said Stevie Nicks
after the band announced its 2013 tour. “Everything seems to be falling into
place. 2013 looks like the year of Fleetwood Mac.”
